You know what I'm thankful for? The 10 - 15 degree drop in temperatures on Friday of last week. Why? Watching the football game and half-time performance by our high school students was soooo nice! I used to think I couldn't stand sitting in 99 degrees for any length of time but after sitting in 110+ degree heat the Friday night before where it felt like we were broiling even long after the sun went down, 99 degrees felt like a balmy Autumn evening. There was even a gentle breeze!
This past week was full of teenage revelations in my house. At least we saw them coming because our youngest has always been very open about what's going on in her life (another thing that I'm thankful for). It may not make it easier on this momma's heart knowing her last chickadee is testing out her wings and foraging into that scary young adult world but it does make me thankful that she asks our advice and trusts us to guard her tender heart. I think I may need to pick up Connie's Roots & Wings kit because it seems to be even more relevant now.
