Sunday Chatter With Connie

Good Sunday morning everyone!  I hope that this posting finds you doing well :)  It's a BIG day in the Prince household!  The new Pokemon games are releasing in just a couple of hours.  Hayden has been so excited and counting down days for about two months now.  He isn't usually video game kind of kid, but he has always been a huge Pokemon fan!

What one "thing" has your children/family been a huge fan of?

Aside from the Pokemon excitement going on we've had a busy week!  Between family acitivites and the usual work/school deadlines I was really glad to see the weekend arrive.  This morning I was playing around with creating embossed overlays and thought that I might share with you the simple enough method that I've come up with to create them!

Embossed Overlay Tutorial
Step #1 - Open a file in the size that you wish to use, add a shape or text if you prefer and rasterize.
Step #2- Go to your layer styles menu and choose "Bevel and Emboss"
In the drop down style menu choose "Emboss"
You can play around with your settings to achieve something that you like or you can use the same settings as I did:

Here is what the shape looks like after I applied the style:
Then you can just create your background tile as you normally would!
I arranged mine like this and with a transparent background, then went to edit "Define Pattern".  The pattern will then be in your patterns menu and you can use your flood fill tool to add it to your 3600x3600 background or whatever else you wish to make.  I used blend & overlay on the example below.
Add some texture if you would like and save!

I created a little pack of the overlays for you to use if you would like,
they can be used for personal or commercial use.

Time for me to run and get ready so that we can head out to the game store in just a bit.  As always, leave comments here if there is anything in particular that you'd like to know or learn in future posts!

I hope that you have a wonderful day and a blessed week ahead!
xoxo

Thanks so much for sharing your wonderful overlays and tutorial! I've wondered how to make embossed papers and thought it must be so hard to do. Sounds much easier than I thought it would be.
Could you please do a tut on making papers with letters and words all over them. I've seen them with the alphabet or one letter or one word or many words and have no idea how to do that.

Thank you for the overlays. Thanks for the tutorial. Each time I find things that I can't do with Elements, I'm tempted to buy the other program. Of course I'm still learning on what I can do.

Thank you not only for the embossed templates, but the *tutorial*, which is great!

Now, if I only knew how to make acrylic style stuff! (is it hard?)

Thank you again. :-)
